Our story

A salon built on
restraint and rigor.

Maison Aurelle opened in 2018 with a simple idea: bring the standards of a European atelier to a quieter neighborhood salon. Eight chairs. One philosophy. No noise.

2018 → today

From a single chair to a full house.

Aurelia Vance trained as a colorist in Paris and moved to Chicago to work behind the scenes for editorial shoots. After a decade, she wanted something that didn't run on the clock — a place where craft sat above throughput.

The first Maison Aurelle was four chairs above a flower shop in River North. As the team grew, so did the disciplines: hair, then color, then skin and nails — each one led by a specialist, not a generalist.

We're now a thirteen-person studio. We still take walk-ins when we can, and we still spend an unreasonable amount of time on the things you wouldn't notice unless we got them wrong.

Inside the studio

The space we built.

Eight chairs, three private rooms, a wash station tucked behind a folding screen. Soft light, marble floors, and a brick wall we kept from the original 1920s building.

What we hold to

Three things we don't compromise on.

01

Considered, not rushed

Every appointment includes a real consultation. No double-booking, no overlap.

02

Education over trend

Our team trains year-round in fundamentals, not whatever's loud on social this week.

03

Healthy work, lasting work

We turn down what we shouldn't do. Hair and skin integrity first, always.
